Here is my first comic page after checking out a couple of books and attending a couple of seminars about graphic novels. It is still in rough sketch form. I was hurrying it last night as I was suffering a headache. I wonder if it was partially from my marker. The smell definitely took meContinue reading “Squirrel Assassin”

A Day at the Eric Carle Museum
Today we experienced magical moments. We got to meet Kelly Light and hear story time with David Hyde Costello at the Eric Carle Museum. Together they were encouraging “YOU Can Help” after linking up on Ripple. After watching Ripple grow from just Kelly to hundreds of artists it was truly special to get to meetContinue reading “A Day at the Eric Carle Museum”
And we’re back
Making magnets has me loving playing with clay again. Also, given that I over used my arms trimming our hedges my weakened muscles are killing the sensitivity in my drawing hand. It has been a totally unexpected outcome of yard work. Although, lesson learned, time to work out more and keep my strength up. BackContinue reading “And we’re back”

Surprise
Although, I am feeling my sketch more: I need to go back to the drawing board. My sketch composition is working better. In part because the cat is looking to the left and there is the danger, helping the eye to rotate around the page. In the full color piece, you are left hanging andContinue reading “Surprise”
Crash Test Frogs
I actually made time to color this week’s husband’s choice! I was only mildly influenced by Sheep in a Jeep. Okay I was very influenced. However, my characters are frogs. It seems I love drawing jovial frogs on the fly. This guy is my favorite. I have decided to name him Schmitty.
Rebecca’s Choice
This past weekend my Dad and Rebecca visited us. I wasn’t working on much since we were spending time together. Although, we did take a trip to the zoo and I sketched the animals because they watched Lucien, we watch General Hospital so I sketched during the show, and then they requested a painting. So,Continue reading “Rebecca’s Choice”

also a work in progress sneak peak:
Office Titans
Maybe some things in the sketchbook aren’t meant to be seen by anyone but the artist. They are practice. A moment of learning rather than a great piece of art or something that anyone wants to look at. But, I made a deal with myself that I would post two times a week covering myContinue reading “Office Titans”
The Slug King
For Husband’s choice this week, a revisit to the Slug King. Since my last post I received a very honest critique. Thank you. Upon the review I have been playing with my drawing pushing my comfort zone. Two days are all that has passed, but I have been spending time experimenting. I know the onlyContinue reading “The Slug King”
Reworking Husband’s Choice
Since the start of the So You Think You Can Dance season I have been asking my husband for an idea to draw every Thursday to be posted to my blog on Friday. He has taken this much more seriously than I imagined and given me some really creative thoughts! Each concept has also takenContinue reading “Reworking Husband’s Choice”
The Myth of J.S.
I am going to do this week’s husband’s choice in two parts or three or four. The title is so complex I needed time to decide what the story would be. Yes the character has a full name, initials J.S., but we are terrible and didn’t write them down at the beginning. So, we areContinue reading “The Myth of J.S.”
