I recently realized I never shared my final jacket submission for the NESCBWI Poster Showcase. I was reminded by this weeks Illustration Friday topic, shadows.
At the conference I heard from many a viewer that they had not read The Dark is Rising Sequence. If you have not, it is a classic and I highly recommend you check it out!

The Dark is Rising is a MARVELOUS book. I really like your cover poster too–beautiful dark blues, rook and symbols. THe only thing that disturbs me are his eyes, but I guess that could reflect how he’s seeing a different world, or different plane of existence, and thus having no black in them…..
Thanks for stopping by! I have heard the comment about the eyes a couple of times. I risked trying to draw eyes without pupils this time. In my sketches they are often not there and it felt rather appropriate for this story. However, for future pieces I won’t leave them out.
