I have always liked drawing seahorses, they end up in a lot of my doodles. Recently someone said to me they think there should be more so, I have been making finished pieces of them. What do you think? After the crazy idea throwing UStream with Dani-Draws this morning I am wondering what people haveContinue reading “Current Seahorse Obsession”

Husband’s Choice
Summer has begun! Last night was the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance, the show that my husband and I actually take time out for to watch together every summer. I intend to take advantage of this time together and start a new piece a week called Husband’s Choice. As per theContinue reading “Husband’s Choice”
Conference Recap
Last weekend’s NESCBWI conference was amazing. I left feeling I had personally achieved more than in previous years. My personal focus for this conference was to improve upon my portfolio. I did as many activities as were possible to get other professionals to give feedback. First was a peer critique lead by David Hyde Costello.Continue reading “Conference Recap”
Poster for Conference
My time recently has been wrapped up in moving and preparing for the annual New England SCBWI conference. The conference is this weekend! I am very excited to get there, see old friends, and be engrossed in publishing. The piece above is my contribution to the poster showcase for “Moments of Change”. Dr. Sketchy’s
Yesterday’s Dr. Sketchy’s was a great figure drawing session, I definitely hope to go every month. I enjoyed using paint to sketch the figure, it was very interesting how it affected my pencil sketching. These images are in the progression of how I started to my last sketch. I played with proportions some.
A night in the radio studio
Last night the family went to Sean Graham’s to watch his Monday night radio show. Joining him were Professor Fletcher and 20 Grams. The music was rocking and there were many tributes to the man of the day Martin Luther King Jr. These are the sketches of the night, Matt Girard, Sean Graham, and JessicaContinue reading “A night in the radio studio”
A Step Over
I did this painting using a traveling watercolor kit. That element alone helped me move out of my comfort zone and try something new. I am happy with this, it is a step in the right direction. I think it is a peek through a window of whats coming. This is for a sketchbook group.Continue reading “A Step Over”
Loose Sketching
I love people that can draw with sketchy lines. Quentin Blake comes to mind. He is my hero. His illustrations breath. My work doesn’t even come close to this! However, I had some fun tonight letting go a little. After looking back through Blake’s work, I can see how much further I should push. HereContinue reading “Loose Sketching”
First Piece of 2010
The first piece of 2010 is for a Mr. Not a Sausage Haney, of his popular pooch Milo, whom you can follow on twitter. Painting is fun. So much exploration to do, every night something new!
Ornaments 09
Okay before I forget to do this, since I have been forgetting everything else. Here are some photos of ornaments in the making and made:
Glorious Prominent Noses
I have always been a fan of noses. They are my favorite facial feature and my favorite feature to exaggerate. Now, when I caricature I tend to make an exaggerated portrait more than a full caricature, which is how I draw and I am happy with that. However, on some of these I am notContinue reading “Glorious Prominent Noses”
